Norgren-Herion Acquisition Statement

Herion joins the Norgren Group

A further and particularly significant development of Norgren’s already dominant position was the joining together of Norgren and Herion to create a powerful new force serving the global pneumatics market. This followed the acquisition of Herion by IMI in October 1997.

The combined strengths of these two major companies are now bringing many new benefits to both Norgren and Herion customers.

Norgren’s position as a global supplier to the international pneumatics market, with worldwide sales, service and distribution capabilities, was significantly strengthened by Herion’s excellent reputation for specialised valve control technology, and expertise in providing customised, integrated product solutions.

Roger Tidball added: “OEM customers worldwide can now take advantage of an enhanced, expanded product range from a capable, single source supplier, fully supported by a reliable experienced international service network.

“In a wide range of market sectors, including the automotive industry, commercial vehicles, printing, bottling, press safety, process and offshore industries the combination of Norgren and Herion applications expertise makes the perfect fit.”

Prior to the acquisition Herion was itself a leading manufacturer of pneumatic and process control valves, proportional valves, press safety valves and were the developers of the world’s first electronic pressure switch. A principal supplier to European manufacturing industry, Herion’s customers included many with strong global market brands.

With six manufacturing sites and a network of national sales companies, Herion’s success in specialised valve control technology was based on innovative R & D and design engineering.

Herion’s former headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany is now the headquarters of Norgren’s Valve Division, which also has manufacturing sites in the UK, USA and Switzerland.
