Advantages, Applications & Solutions

The maritime electrotechnical Bakker Sliedrecht products, systems and installations all share a sound reputation when it comes to functionality and reliability. This is due to our staff of well-trained and experienced engineers. Their extended know-how allows them to thoroughly analyse any situation. They will then come up with ingenious solutions that are fully tailored to customer requirements. The practical result always includes both conventional and the latest electrotechnical and mechanical techniques. It goes without saying that our engineers closely follow all (electro)technical developments. By regularly attending relevant courses they are able to keep their knowledge up-to-date. Our progressive approach to engineering has led to quite a number of innovations over the years, contributing much to more effective and efficient operations by our customers.

Bakker Sliedrecht is able to take on the most diverse maritime projects and deliver the required installations turnkey. From the first consultation up to and including transfer to customer and start-up at any location in the Netherlands or abroad. Being a real system integrator, Bakker Sliedrecht understands these tracks from A to Z.

One of our specialism is the modernisation of existing installations. By synchronising modern technology with the state of affairs in your company, we are often able to achieve important improvements in your operational capabilities. In each renovation our aim is to optimise the installation involved, making the best possible use of both conventional and innovative electrotechnical and/or mechanical solutions.

Large or small projects, in the vision of Bakker Sliedrecht solid project management calls for a direct and open relationship with our customers. Based on this relationship, we continuously strive for an affective and integral collaboration between all stakeholders, namely end user, customer, suppliers and partners. This collaboration will be initiated by us at a very early stage, often long before we receive a formal order. This enables us to perfectly collaborate all disciplines with each other.

Product Range and Specifications

Below are some of Bakker’s product range provided or serviced by Cyclect in Singapore.

1. Drives

Bakker Sliedrecht supplies adjustable and non-adjustable drives boasting power levels between a few kW and many MW. Our controls distinguish themselves by their functional layout, reliability and logical diagnostic system, resulting in cost-effective and user-friendly end products and systems. Years of rough practice have shown the advantage of this approach.

2. Electric Propulsion (Diesel)

The use of electric drive systems for e.g. main propulsion, auxiliary propulsion, bow and stern propellers is becoming more popular. This is partly also due to the introduction of new technologies like maintenance-friendly frequency controls combined with three-phase motors. These do much to comply with the special requirements for noise and vibration levels, redundancy, fuel use, the environment, safety, flexible installation, maintenance, etc. In recent decades Bakker Sliedrecht has carried out many successful projects in e.g. main, auxiliary and emergency propulsion systems and transverse propeller systems. In many cases these projects involved the combined use of these systems, including power and ship management systems, dynamic positioning, etc.

3. Generators/Power Conversion

Bakker Sliedrecht supplies generators to produce electric power in a wide range of designs: standard or custom-made, from some kW to 15 MW. Most are three-phase current systems, but direct-current generators are equally possible.

Bakker Sliedrecht also supplies special generators, e.g. a low-speed wind energy generator that is driven directly without gear box. Another good example is the PTO/PTI generator, an axle generator manufactured in a way that enables it to be used as an emergency propulsion system. It is fed from the auxiliary generator network.

4. Panels

Bakker Sliedrecht designs, manufactures and supplies switchboards, distributors, equipment casings, motor control centres and control panels. These panels are used all over the world, operating even under the most extreme circumstances. From icy seas to tropical waters, on ships or in offshore: being a specialist, Bakker Sliedrecht is able to anticipate all conceivable environmental factors. Complex applications or diverging requirements from different inspection services? No problem. Naturally, we also manufacture custom-made panels for less demanding environments. No matter what your requirements are, we will be able to help you. Our solutions are (of course) in full compliance with all relevant legal regulations and requirements of the classification bureaus in our domain.

5. Electromotors

Electromotors form one of the main specialisms at Bakker Sliedrecht. The possibilities on offer are virtually endless: from the standard drip-proof IP23 up to a fully closed custom-made submersible motor type IP68. We also support our customers if existing motors require overhaul or modification.

Voltage: 3 x 230 V up to and including 3 x 10 kV
Protection: IP21 up to and including IP68
Cooling: axle fan, e-fan, air-/water-cooling, air-/air-cooling etc.
Design: IM B3 / IM V1 etc.

6. Automation

As a progressive electrotechnical enterprise Bakker Sliedrecht is actively engaged in meeting the still growing demand for process and production automation. SCADA, PLC and PC controls, screen and glass fibre techniques and power electronics – to name some – have no secrets for us. We have successfully completed scores of projects in this fascinating area. In many cases our customers asked us to develop special hard- and software. In power engineering we also see the role of automation increase. We not only design and build, but we also do the maintenance of control and automation systems. Your bonus: added value to your system or installation. If so required we can also monitor your system from a distance.

7. Submersible Motors

The Bakker Sliedrecht submersible motors form a perfect example of the ongoing developments in drive engineering. These motors are specially designed by us for the direct or indirect drive of e.g. pumps, bucket-wheel excavators, cutters and drive systems. They are compact and robust, enabling customers to work under extreme conditions and at great depths, thus considerably improving the output and reliability of the production processes involved. Our submersible motors allow use in widely varying drive systems. The frequency control – or a so-called electric axle system – enables users to control speed, torque and power. These motors can also be connected to a control or automated system.

Power: 100 – 10.000 kW
Voltage: 3×400 V – 3×6000 V
Cooling: oil, air or water
Speed: low (c. 100-500 rpm, for direct drive of equipment) or high (c. 500-1,800 rpm, for drive through gear box)
Construction:

  • direct drive of equipment without gear box
  • indirect drive of equipment with gear box
  • special casings
  • special designs
  • special bearings
  • special axle models
